President Bush made it a hallmark of his 2nd term that we would support the spread of freedom and democracy around the world.  How does that square with our support of Pakistan's dictator, who has declared martial law, fired the head of their court system, and cut off access to the outside world by non state-controlled media?

And while we're discussing standing up for our principles, how is it possible that we're about to approve a chief law enforcement officer of the U.S. who doesn't know whether or not "waterboarding" is torture, and whether or not it's allowed?
