So the Iraqis have had an election -- signs, we hope of an emerging democracy. Will it stick?
Is this real? Or will the violence continue, until we get out? We'll discuss this and President Bush's upcoming
State of the Union speech this coming Wednesday night. Just what shape is the Union in these days? Are
we even really a united country? What should the President focus on? Your thoughts are welcome.

There's so much to talk about from President Bush's relatively short Inauguration Speech this past Thursday.
What did he mean when he talked about setting us on a course to support freedom and liberty around the world, opposing tyranny?
Was this a noble direction put forth by an idealistic man, or the worst sort of hubris, an out-of-touch with reality, pie-in-the-sky
dangerous imperative? Plus: Is Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld out of his cage, running a rogue intelligence
operation, not accountable to Congress, or you and me? How did this happen?

It's Inauguration Week in Washington, DC. Are you celebrating, or coming to town to protest? Make
sure you've got plenty of warm cloths, and plan to be . . . . patient. And take a deep breath, whether you're a Bush
supporter or not -- this is supposed to be a time when we remind ourselves of the blessings of liberty and the democratic
process. We'll talk about this, and more:
-- On this weekend when we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. -- should he have a Memorial on the National Mall?
-- Was a prison sentence of 10 years for the so-called "ringleader" in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal appropriate,
or was he scape-goated?
-- Why has the President said his "moment of accountability" passed when he won the November election?
And lots more . . . join the party with 630 WMAL's "Pet Liberal," won't you?

We'll get an early start today -- I'll be filling in for Tony Penny during the 12:00 Noon hour, so we'll have a full three
hours together, Noon-3pm. What's on the agenda? Try these questions on for size:
-- Why is the Secret Service banning crosses from President Bush's Inauguration Day Parade?
-- Should we be spending $40 Million on his inauguration at a time of war and suffering in the world?
-- Is it okay that money was paid to a talk-radio commentator to push Bush Administration policies?
-- Why has Donald Rumsfeld ordered a full review of the situation in Iraq?
And lots more . . . join the party with 630 WMAL's "Pet Liberal," won't you?

Happy New Year! On today's show, we'll talk about this country's response to the tsunami disasters, and whether
we've done enough, too little, or too much -- plus lots more.
And: Many, many thanks to all of our listeners who contributed over $1.6
Million to 630 WMAL's "Operation Homefront," a major fundraising campaign benefitting Fisher
House, a "Ronald McDonald's"-like organization that provides housing and other assistance to those service men and
women in need of medical care, and their families. What a remarkable showing of your support for those who serve us!
