Sunday, May 4, 2008
Chris Plante's off today, and I'll be covering the 1:00pm - 4:00pm shift solo. That means we'll have plenty of time to discuss,
among other things, the Obama/Wright matter and the developments this week; the "gas tax" baloney, and much more.

Barack Obama's former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, gave his first public interview since the uproar over his sermons to Bill
Moyers on PBS Friday night. I got a whole different picture from hearing him in a different setting, in listening to the
longer, in context, versions of the "looped" sound bites we've all hear. We'll discuss that today. And there's
lots more on the agenda.

Barack Obama's getting trashed for some remarks he made about people in small towns being "bitter." We'll discuss
-- and we'll also talk about the fact that tour lengths for our troops are being reduced, finally -- but not for those
already fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Is that right? And where now on Iraq?

Sunday, March 30, 2008
We're 40 years after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. this week, and given the "discussions" we've been having
about race following the Obama / Wright incident, etc., we'll need to talk again about how far we've come, how far we have
to go, and how to get there.
And we'll need to talk about the violence that broke out again this week in Iraq, and the fact that the Bush Administration
is finally talking about giving some relief to homeowners besieged by the mortgage crisis (as they did to the fat-cats on
Wall Street) . . . and more. It will be a lively Sunday!

Happy Easter. Chris Plante is off today; you and I will spend the hours together from 2pm-4pm. We'll get
back into the controversy over Barack Obama's pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and in particular the speech Obama gave on the
subject of race this past Tuesday. I'd like you to at least read the speech. Go here to read the transcript:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/18/obama.transcript/index.html. And we'll also note the passing of the 5th anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq.
